Dear Friends,
As we are about to bid farewell to 2023 it is time to remember all who have been part of our journey throughout the year. It is also the time to take stock of the year and see how we have been during this year and how we could fare better in the coming year.
First of all, we thank our overseas buyers and supporters who stood firm behind all our ventures and offered us support. Your unwavering partnership has been our strength. THANK YOU.
It is also the time during the year people around the world celebrate Christmas, the symbol of hope for the poor, the marginalized, the sick and the afflicted. We continue to engage with the poor and the disadvantaged to render them a better tomorrow with your help. Merry Christmas to you all, our friends.
Let me take this opportunity to give you a brief glimpse into the lives of all associated with this beautiful organization. Our focus has been to sustain the organization post the pandemic and to get back to the pre-covid situation as far as production and sales were concerned. We definitely had to deal with the reduction in orders from our existing buyers. We also had to deal with the situation of losing a couple of our buyers who have either gone bankrupt or have reduced their number of partners, again mainly due to the Pandemic. We did suffer from pretty big losses and are currently looking for ways and means to recover the losses that we have incurred.
We also have good news to share! As we have said in the past, the focus of our fair trade and livelihood program is to sustain the women producers and to educate their children. Our 35 years of engagement with the poor is bearing fruit now. It brings us immense joy to see the children of our women producers placed in good positions, earning pretty well, moving to better housing and finally asking their mothers to retire from work and take rest. This was the dream of our founder and it once again affirms her belief that it takes a generation to see tangible, sustainable changes in the lives of the poor.
Having seen these changes we have once again resolved to support more and more children for higher education. We are making sure that no child, especially girl child, misses university education for want of financial support. We are receiving a number of applications every year for scholarships for university education and we are able to extend the necessary support.
All these have been possible, thanks to your unwavering support. We do receive regular donations from our enthusiastic and committed supporters. We remember you all very fondly. Thank you. We count on your continued support in the coming year as well. Â We shall together make an effort to make the lives of the poor, the women and the children a little better and the world a little less unequal.
Thank you for your continued support and love.
Wish you all a Joyous Christmas and a very peaceful New Year 2024.
Thank you,
Yours Sincerely,
Johny Joseph
